Start By:a. remove fan guard assemblyb. remove top cover assembly (radiator)**This operation is located in the Disassembly & Assembly, 5130B Excavator, 3508B Engine Supplement For 5130B Excavator SENR1467. Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Do not remove any valve, hydraulic fitting or valve core, nor disassemble any parts until pressure has been released. Failure to release pressure can cause personal injury or death.
The following steps are to release the pressure in the system:a. Shut off engine.b. With operator in seat and bucket on ground, engage selector valve (pilot control) and actuate an implement control lever about ten times to release pressure in hydraulic system.c. Press the relief valve button on the hydraulic tank breather to release the tank pressure.
Hydraulic oil that is under pressure and hot can cause bodily injury. Move the control levers to relieve pressure in the hydraulic system. Let the hydraulic oil become cool before any lines are disconnected in the hydraulic system.
Mark and identify all hose assemblies for installation purposes. Cap and plug all hose assemblies to avoid system contamination. 1. Position a suitable container under fan motor (radiator cooling) (1) to obtain any hydraulic oil lost for storage or disposal. Disconnect hose assemblies (2) and (3) fan motor (radiator cooling) (1). 2. Disconnect hose assembly (4) from fan motor (radiator cooling) (1). 3. Disconnect hose assemblies (2) and (3) from make up valve (5). 4. Disconnect hose assembly (4) from bulkhead elbow (6). 5. Position a suitable lifting sling around blower support assembly (8), as shown. Secure the lifting sling to a hoist. Remove eight bolts (7), the spacers, and the washers holding blower support assembly (8) to the fan guard.6. Remove blower support assembly (8), fan spider assembly (9), and fan motor (1), as a unit, from the fan guard. The weight of blower support assembly (8), fan spider assembly (9), and fan motor (1), as a unit, is 161 Kg (355 lb).7. Install Tooling (A) to blower support assembly (8), as shown. Position two suitable lifting slings through Tooling (A), as shown. Raise blower support assembly (8), with Tooling (A), and remove the lifting sling used in Steps 5 and 6. 8. Position two suitable lifting slings around fan spider assembly (9), as shown. Secure the lifting slings to a hoist. Remove bolt (10) and the hard washer that holds fan spider assembly (9) to the fan motor (engine). Remove fan spider assembly (9) from the fan motor (engine). The weight of fan spider assembly (9) is 61 Kg (135 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the fan spider assembly. Check
