Rotate the wheels so that final drive drain plug (1) is in the lowest position on the rear wheel.
Park the machine on a level surface and stop the engine. Make sure that the transmission control is in the PARK position.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Remove the final drive drain plug. Drain the oil into a suitable container. Note: Inspect the magnetic drain plug and the oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive Oil - Inspect" for further information.
Clean the drain plug. Install the drain plug.
Repeat Step 1 through Step 4 for the other final drive.

Remove differential drain plug (3) and allow the oil to drain into a suitable container. Note: Inspect the magnetic drain plug and the oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive Oil - Inspect" for further information.
Clean the drain plug. Install the drain plug.
Remove final drive filler plugs (2). Fill each final drive to the bottom of the filler plug opening. When the final drive drain plug is in the lowest position, the final drive filler plug will be at the correct oil level. Note: The final drives may need to be repositioned in order to place the drain plug in the lowest position.
Clean the filler plug and install the filler plug.
Remove differential filler plug (4) and wipe the surface around the filler plug opening .

Fill the differential compartment with the oil level visible in the bottom of the sight gauge. (5). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)". Note: Allow oil to fill all of the compartments. Correct oil levels are critical in the differential and final drives.
If the ambient temperature at engine start-up or during operation is below −10°C (14°F), perform the procedures in Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential Warm-up and Break-in". Check the differential compartment and the final drive compartment for the proper fluid level. Failure to warm up the oil or improper lubrication levels prior to operation will cause damage to the machine.
Clean the filler plug and install the filler plug.
Operate the machine on level ground for a few minutes. Note: The differential and final drive oil level needs to be checked and maintained at operating temperature. After the oil has been changed in the differential and final drives, adjustment of the oil level may be necessary when the truck reaches operating temperature.
Stop the machine and check the oil level in the sight gauge. If necessary, adjust the differential compartment with the oil level visible in the bottom of the sight gauge. Note: Overfilling the differential and
