FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENTCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1. Fasten strap and hoist to tag link (1) and remove two bolts, shims and cap (2) that connect it to cleaner bar. 2. Fasten strap and hoist to lift cylinder (3) as shown. Remove four bolts, nuts and shims (4) that connect lift cylinder (3) to blade. Start machine and retract lift cylinder (3) away from blade. 3. Remove six bolts and washers (6) from guard (5) on cleaner bar. 4. Disconnect, cap and plug two hydraulic oil line fittings (9) on the end of lines (8). This will prevent debris from entering the system. Remove two bolts, washers and clamps (7) that hold line (8) to cleaner bar. 5. Place tooling (A) under each lift arms (10) as shown. 6. Remove four bolts (12) (two on each side) that connect lift arm to cleaner bar (11). 7. Start machine and carefully back away from lift arm and blade assembly (13). Install in reverse order from removal.8. Coat all bores, pivots and ball joints on both the cleaner bar and the lift arm and blade assembly with lubricant prior to assembly.
