Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Note the location and routing of the hoses, harness assemblies and cable straps for installation purposes. Plug and cap all hoses and ports.Note: Before you begin the following procedure, swing the upper structure in order to gain access underneath the fuel tank.
Drain the fuel from the fuel tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain". Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the proper amount.

Remove mirror assembly (1). Remove handrail (2) .

Remove cover assembly (4). Open door (5) .
Remove bolts (3) and remove cover assembly (6) .

Disconnect harness assembly (8). Disconnect hose assembly (7). Cut cable straps (9) and position harness assembly (8) out of the way.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to fuel tank (10). The weight of fuel tank (10) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb).

Disconnect hoses (13). Remove bolts (14). Use Tooling (A) (not shown) and a suitable lifting device in order to remove fuel tank (10) .
