Illustration 1 g01038789 (1) The top ring must be installed with the yellow colored strip to the right of the ring end gap. Install the top ring with the "UP-1" facing upward. The ring end gap must be 120 20 degrees from the adjacent ring end gap. (2) The second ring must be installed with the green colored strip to the right of the ring end gap. Install the intermediate ring with the "UP-2" facing upward. The ring end gap must be 120 20 degrees from the adjacent ring end gap. (3) Install the oil control ring and the oil ring spring with the gaps at an angle of 180 degrees across from each other. The white colored portion of the oil ring spring must be visible through the oil control ring gap. The ring end gap must be 120 20 degrees from the adjacent ring end gap. Note: The values in Table 1 are specifications for a new piston.
