Schematic of the pressure sensor (brake charging)
This diagnostic code is associated with the pressure sensor (brake charging). The FMI 05 means that the ECM has determined that the "Normally Open" and "Normally Closed" circuits are open.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected. Ensure that the diagnostic code of CID 0473 FMI 05 is active before performing this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SENSOR
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the switch.
Connect a jumper wire between connector contact C (wire 483-PK(Pink)) and connector contact A (wire R997-OR(Orange)) of the machine harness.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position. Expected Result:The CID 0473 FMI 05 is not active. Results:
OK - The CID 0426 FMI 05 is not active. The machine harness and the ECM are correct. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The CID 0473 FMI 05 is still active. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR AN OPEN
The key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.
The machine harness remains disconnected from the switch.
At the machine harness connector for the sensor, the jumper wire remains installed.
Disconnect the machine harness connector(s) from the ECM.
Measure the resistance between connector contacts J1-36 (wire 483-BR(Brown)) and J1-11 (wire R997-OR(Orange)) of the machine harness. Expected Result:The resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NO - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms. The harness has failed. The open is in J1-36 (wire 483-BR(Brown)) or in J1-11 (wire R997-OR(Orange)).Repair: Repair the wiring harness or replace the wiring harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT OF THE SWITCH IN THE HARNESS
The key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.
The machine harness connector remains disconnected from the sensor and the ECM.
Remove the jumper wire that was installed in the previous Test Step.
Measure the resistance between the frame ground and connector contact A (wire L740-BR(Brown)) of the machine harness. Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. The circuit is correct. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms. The circuit is open. The machine harness has failed.Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 4. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE SENSOR
The machine harness remains disconnected from the switch.
Connect one lead from a multimeter to connector contact A of the harness connector for the sensor.
Connect the other lead from a multimeter to connector contact B of the harness connector for the sensor.
Measure the resistance between connector contact A and connector contact B. Note the resistance.
Disconnect the lead from connector contact A and connect the lead to connector contact C.
Measure the resistance between connector contact A and connector contact C. Expected
