Right Side of Instrument Panel (1) Shift switch (2) Automatic speed dial (3) Drive selector switch (4) Propel leverShift switch (1), automatic speed dial (2), drive selector switch (3), and propel lever (4) are located on the right side of the instrument panel.Shift switch (1) is a two position switch. The top position of this switch is the PAVE position. The bottom position of this switch is the TRAVEL position.When the shift switch is moved to the TRAVEL position, the machine operates at travel speeds. When the shift switch is moved to the PAVE position, the machine operates at paving speeds.Automatic speed dial (2) is connected to a potentiometer. The machine electronic control system uses the input from the automatic speed dial potentiometer along with input from the following components in order to determine the desired machine speed:
Propel lever (4)
The steering sensor
Engine speed
The decelerator pedal potentiometer (if equipped)
Shift switch (1)
The parking brake switchAutomatic speed dial (2) controls the maximum speed at which the machine will travel when the shift switch is out of the NEUTRAL position. Maximum travel speed is proportional to the position of the automatic speed dial. The farther the dial is rotated counterclockwise, the slower the maximum travel speed. The farther the dial is rotated clockwise, the faster the maximum travel speed.Drive selector switch (3) is a rotary switch with three positions. The far left position (clockwise) is the AUTOMATIC position. The center position of the switch is the STANDBY position. The far right position (counterclockwise) of the switch is the MANUAL position. This switch must be in the STANDBY position in order for the electrical controls to be enabled. When the drive selector switch is in the STANDBY position, the parking brake is engaged. The machine can only be operated in the AUTOMATIC mode when the shift switch is in the PAVE position.When drive selector switch (3) is in the MANUAL position, the ECM uses input from propel lever (4) in order to determine the speed at which to operate the machine. When the drive selector switch is in the AUTOMATIC position, the ECM uses input from the automatic speed dial potentiometer in order to determine the speed at which to operate the machine. The machine can only be operated in the AUTOMATIC mode when the shift switch is in the PAVE position.Propel lever (4) controls machine speed and travel direction when drive selector switch (3) is in the MANUAL position. This component is only used in manual operation of the machine.For forward travel, the operator pushes the propel lever (4) toward the front of the machine. For reverse travel, the operator must pull the lever toward the back of the machine.
