2. Remove all steering clutch assembly retaining bolts (1) and (2) that are accessible.3. Move the tractor forward or backward apporximately 2 ft. (0,6 m) to gain access to the remaining retaining bolts.4. Remove all but two of the retaining bolts (one on each side).5. Install two 3/8" rods 4 in. (10 cm) long in the brake band.6. Attach a hoist and sling to the steering clutch assembly, and remove the two remaining bolts.7. Pry the inner drum away from the shoulder of the hub, and remove the steering clutch assembly - weight 250 lbs. (113 kg).
- Keep the steering clutch assembly level during removal and installation. The clutch is free to slide out of the outer drum.
Install Steering Clutch Assemblies
1. Install the two 3/8" diameter rods in the brake band.2. Attach a hoist and sling to the steering clutch assembly. Position the steering clutch assembly in the steering clutch compartment.3. Install the hub and flange-to-steering clutch assembly retaining bolts that are accessible from the top.4. Move tractor forward or backward, and install the remaining retaining bolts.5. Tighten all retaining bolts to 200 20 lb. ft. (27,7 2,8 mkg).6. Remove the two 3/8" rods. Fill the bevel gear and steering clutch compartment with oil to the specified level.concluding step: a) install brake actuating mechanismDisassemble Steering Clutch Assembly
preparatory step: a) remove steering clutch assembly1. Lay steering clutch assembly in horizontal position, and remove brake band assembly.2. Install two 5/8" - 11NC forged eyebolts, attach hoist and remove outer drum (1) - weight 85 lbs. (39 kg).3. Attach hoist to steering clutch - weight 160 lbs. (73 kg).4. Install plate (B) on stand (A), and lower the steering clutch into position on the stand.5. Install plate (C) and retaining nut (2).6. Apply pressure to steering clutch and remove retaining bolts (3).7. Release pressure on steering clutch, and remove plate (C) and locks.8. Remove the steering clutch pressure plate (4).9. Remove the disc assemblies and discs from the inner drum.10. Attach a hoist and remove inner drum - weight 50 lbs. (23 kg).11. Remove the springs, sleeves, and retainer.Assemble Steering Clutch Assembly
1. Position retainer on stand (A) and plate (B), and install springs (2) and sleeves (1).2. Attach a hoist and install inner drum (3).3. Install the clutch discs and disc assemblies alternately beginning with a driven disc assembly.4. Install the steering clutch pressure plate with bolt holes aligned with bolt holes in inner drum.5. Position retaining bolts and locks in steering clutch.6. Install plate (C) and retaining nut.7. Compress the steering clutch, and tighten the retaining bolts.8. Bend the locks and remove plate (C).9. Attach a hoist to steering clutch and place it on work bench.10. Attach a hoist to outer drum, and lower the drum into position on steering clutch.
- Be careful not to bend the teeth on disc assemblies when positioning outer drum.
11. Install brake band and place steering clutch assembly in upright position.concluding step: a) install steering clutch assembly
