Remove the counterweight sections. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Counterweight Sections - Remove and Install".
Remove the lower boom sheave block. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom Sheave Block (Lower) - Remove".
Remove the lower load sheave block. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Load Sheave Block (Lower) - Remove".
Remove the boom winch motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom Winch Motor - Remove".
Remove the hook winch motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hook Winch Motor - Remove".Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all harness assemblies, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to counterweight frame (1). The weight of counterweight frame (1) is approximately 1700 kg (3750 lb).

Remove pin assembly (3) and carefully rest the counterweight cylinder and the link against the pipelayer frame. Remove pin assembly (2). Repeat this Step for the other side.
Remove counterweight frame (1) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to counterweight frame (4). The weight of counterweight frame (4) is approximately 1000 kg (2204 lb).

Remove lock (5) and locking bolt (6) .

Lower counterweight frame (4) onto Tooling (B) .

Disconnect hose assembly (7) and remove clip (8) .

Remove bolts (9) and reposition accumulator assembly (10) to the side.

Attach a suitable lifting device around the drum of boom winch (11), as shown. The combined weight of boom winch (11), the hook winch, and the winch frame is approximately 2359 kg (5200 lb).

Remove ten bolts (12) and use the suitable lifting device to remove the boom winch, the hook winch, and winch frame (13) .
