The upper mounting bracket on the mulching head frame may bend as shown in Illustration 2. This issue may result in insufficient engagement between bracket and host machine quick coupler.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem and recommend to follow the below interim corrective solution.Follow the below inspection on daily basis, refer to mulching head Operation and Maintenance Manual , SEBU9444 , "Frame Mounting Bracket - Inspect".
Inspect the upper angled plate of the frame mounting bracket. Any bend identified during inspection should be addressed prior to wear or damage of the quick coupler assembly.
Inspect the lower angled plate and ensure that the plate is not bent or otherwise damaged. Inspect the holes in the lower angled plate for wear or for damage.
Ensure that the coupler pins extend through the bottom of quick coupler assembly. Check the pins for any wear or for damage. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the respective host machine
Inspect the top edges and face of the quick coupler assembly for wear or for damage.
