Introduction
The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of the components used for the Cat® Grade Control system and explain the graphical user interface and controls.The Cat Grade Control system is designed to calculate bucket tip position and provide visual and audible feedback to the operator. This feedback allows the operator to achieve the desired grade safer, quicker and more accurately than traditional grading techniques.Component Overview

(7) Laser catcher The monitor (4) includes an area to show data to the operator and allow the operator to configure the Cat Grade Control system.The switches on the optional Work Tool system joysticks (3) provide a method to interact with the Cat Grade Control system remotely. This function allows the operator to keep hands on the controls to perform some functions rather than having to push buttons on the display.This system uses four sensors to determine the position of the bucket tip.The Position Sensing Cylinder (PSC) (6) measures the length of the cylinder.The rotary sensors (1) measure the boom angle and the stick angle.The pitch/roll sensor (5) is used to measure the front-to-back and side-to-side orientation of the machine.The implement ECM (2) uses all of the data from the sensors to calculate the bucket tip position and communicates information to the display to be shown to the operator.Technical Assistance
