Although this Program is to be administeredas described above on the affected Product, parts should be removed fromparts as some as possible. The Mail Codes for CAPL S-37 and CCLH-33 are out of order since they were added in April 2001. This Revised Service Letter replacesthe February 25, 2001 (Revised May 2003) Service Letter. The main hydraulic pump needs to be replaced oncertain 330, 330L, 330N, 330B, 330B L, 330B LN, 345B and 345B L Excavators.The main hydraulic pump may experience premature main shaft bearing failure.Early bearing failures may be due to 1) loss of bearing pre-load due towear on the bearing retaining nut, 2) inadequate press fit of the bearingson the shaft or 3) inadequate bearing material. Replacement of the mainhydraulic pump with a pump having hardened bearing retaining nuts, improvedbearing/shaft fit and improved bearing material is necessary to achievedesired pump life.AFFECTED PRODUCT

Follow the disassembly section of the service manual to remove the failedpump and to disassemble it. This program applies only to pump failuresthat are attributed to bearing failures on the main shafts. Pump failuresof this nature may have symptoms of excess noise or vibration, loss ofpower/flow or contamination of the hydraulic circuit.
Remove the return filter, cut it open and inspect it for indicationsof debris from the pump failure to determine how much flushing of the hydraulicsystem is required. Proper system flushing is required to prevent failureof the replacement pump or other hydraulic system components due to systemcontamination from the original pump failure.
Refer to the assembly section of the service manual to install the replacementpump.
Install the 1262131 Clean-out Filter instead of the standard returnfilter (the clean-out filter should not be used more than 250 hours).
