Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Park the machine on a level surface. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.

Remove drain plug (2) from the bottom of the filter housing and drain the oil into a suitable container. Note: Removing the drain plug from the bottom of the torque converter oil filter may not allow all of the oil to drain from the filter housing. When you remove the filter housing and the filter element, be careful to avoid contact with hot oil.
Clean the drain plug and install the drain plug.
Remove cover (3).
Remove screen (5) from the filter housing and clean the screen in clean nonflammable solvent.
Remove filter elements (4). Discard the used elements into a suitable container.
Clean the filter housing in clean nonflammable solvent.
Inspect the cover seal. If the seal is damaged, replace the cover seal with a new cover seal.
Install the new filter elements and install the clean screen.
Install the cover.
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Check for leaks and make any necessary repairs.
Check the oil level in the hoist , torque converter, and brake tank. If necessary, add oil. For the proper procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hoist, Torque Converter and Brake Tank Oil Level - Check".
