Machine idler bearing surface (2) and idler bearing surface (3). Refer to Illustration 2 and Illustration 3.
Remove all burrs and sharp edges. Thoroughly clean the interior of the flywheel housing, ensure that no debris remains.Note: Ensure that the ports are thoroughly cleaned and free from debris.

Install the flywheel housing and gear group to the engine. Refer to Illustration 4, Illustration 5, and Disassembly and Assembly , Flywheel Housing and Gear Group (Rear) - Install.Note: In addition to the referenced Disassembly and Assembly Manual, refer to the following instruction.
Apply clean engine oil to both sides of 490-6955 Shims (9) prior to installation
Alternate between the two 1D-4569 Bolts (4), tightening in half turn increments until the final torque is achieved
While tightening 1D-4569 Bolts (4), rotate the gear to ensure that the bearings do not bind or that meshing gears do not bind
