Note: The approximate coil resistance of the solenoid is 5 ohms at 25 °C (77 °F).This diagnostic code is associated with the proportional solenoid (Pump to control for hoist head end). The FMI 05 means that the ECM has determined that the current of the solenoid is below normal.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The energize circuit of the solenoid is open.
The return circuit of the solenoid is open.
The solenoid has failed.
The ECM has failed.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected. Ensure that the diagnostic code of CID 1241 FMI 05 is active before performing this procedure.Note: Use a calibrated 146-4080 Digital Multimeter for the measurements in this procedure.System Response:The hoist system will not be able to go into the raise mode. The machine will not be able to dump.The hoist system will have normal operation in the lower mode, float mode and the hold mode.When the diagnostic goes away, the following occurs:
The ECM will continue to command off this output until the hoist system goes into the lower mode, float mode or hold mode.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SOLENOID
Turn on the disconnect switch and the key start switch. Do not start the engine.
Disconnect the solenoid with the active diagnostic code from the harness.
At the harness connector for the solenoid, place a jumper wire from contact 1 (wire J825-PU(Purple)) to contact 2 (wire H862-GY(Grey)).
Observe the status of the CID 1241 FMI 05.Expected Result:CID 1241 FMI 05 remains active. The FMI has not changed and the "05" is still active.Results:
YES - The diagnostic code remains active. The jumper wire does not affect the diagnostic code. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NO - The diagnostic is no longer active. The solenoid has failed.Repair: Repeat this Test Step "CHECK THE SOLENOID" to verify the solenoid failure. Replace the solenoid. Verify that the new solenoid corrects the problem.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR AN OPEN
Turn off the key start switch and the disconnect switch.
Disconnect the harness from the ECM.
The jumper wire that was installed in the previous Test Step remains in place.
At the harness connector, measure the resistance from signal contact J1-58 (wire J825-PU(Purple)) to contact J1-60 (wire H862-GY(Grey)).Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms.Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms. There is an open in wire J825-PU(Purple)or in wire H862-GY(Grey)of the harness.Repair: Repair or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS
Inspect and clean the harness connector contacts.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn on the disconnect switch and the key start switch.
Operate the machine.
Check the status of CID 1241 FMI 05.Expected Result:CID 1241 FMI 05 is active.Results:
YES - CID 1241 FMI 05 is active.
