(1) Enclosure for cold start heater (2) Fuel tank for cold start heaterThe cold start heater is used to heat an antifreeze mixture which circulates through the road engine and several other components. There is a fuel selector valve that allows the choice of either kerosene fuel or diesel fuel to burn in the cold start heater. There is a fuel filter heater that warms the fuel for the cold start heater. The fuel filter heater keeps the fuel from waxing in extreme cold weather.The heated fluid from the cold start heater flows through the following components: road engine, heat exchanger, stand pipe for the fuel tank, hydraulic tank, power end lubrication tank, in-line fuel heater and battery heater. The heated fluid then returns to the heater unit in a closed loop.Jacket water for the deck engine is circulated through a heat exchanger. Jacket water for the deck engine extracts heat from the heat exchanger. The heated jacket water helps cold weather starting. Jacket water also flows through a thermostatic valve. While the engine is warming up, jacket water flows through the thermostatically operated valve and back to the deck engine. When the deck engine reaches operating temperature, the thermostatically operated valve directs the flow of fluid to the radiator. The radiator will keep the jacket water from becoming too hot.
