Removal Procedure
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Open the engine access door on the right side of the machine. Remove the engine access panel on the right side of the machine.
Drain the engine coolant from the machine into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Disconnect tube assembly (2) .
Loosen clamps (1) and (4). Remove tube assembly (3) .

Disconnect wire assembly (5) .
Remove bolts (7) and move bracket (6) aside.
Loosen clamps (8). Remove hose (9) .

Loosen clamps (13) and (14). Remove hoses (12) and (15) .
Remove bolts (11) and aftercooler core assembly (10) .Installation Procedure

Position aftercooler core assembly (10) and install bolts (11) .
Install hoses (12) and (15) and tighten clamps (13) and (14) .

Install hose (9) and tighten clamps (8) .
Position bracket (6) and install bolts (7) .
Connect wire assembly (5) .

Install tube assembly (3) and tighten clamps (1) and (4) .
Connect tube assembly (2) .
Install the engine access panel on the right side of the machine. Close the engine access door on the right side of the machine.
Fill the engine coolant to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.
