Release the hydraulic system pressure.
Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device on lift cylinder (1). The weight of lift cylinder (1) is approximately 200 kg (440 lb).

Remove bolt (4), retainer (6), and pin (2).Note: Position of spacers (3) and (5) (not shown)

Remove bolts (8) and disconnect hose assemblies (7).

Remove bolts (9) and caps (10). Remove lift cylinder (1) from the machine.Installation Procedure
Install lift cylinder (1) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten the bolts (9) to a torque of 270 40 N m (200 30 lb ft).
Tighten the bolts (8) to a torque of 50 10 N m (37 7 lb ft).
After lift cylinder (1) is installed.
Check the hydraulic oil tank level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check" for the correct procedure.
Cycle the cylinder three times, getting as close to the end of stroke without going to full stroke.
Cycle the cylinder another time going to full stroke slowly. Do not hold in stall.
After cycling the cylinder, check the hydraulic oil level again.Disassembly and Assembly Information
