1. Remove two bolts (1) and tube (2).2. Remove the gasket and the O-ring seal from tube (2). 3. Remove O-ring seal (3) from the left side water cooled exhaust manifold (5).4. Attach lifting slings and a suitable lifting device to the water cooled exhaust manifold as shown.5. Remove eight nuts, washers and spacers (4).6. Remove left side water cooled exhaust manifold (5) and the gaskets. 7. Loosen bolt (6) to allow access to bolts (7).8. Loosen two bolts (7).9. Disconnect tube (8) from the right side water cooled exhaust manifold. 10. Remove O-ring seal (11) from water cooled exhaust manifold (10).11. Attach lifting slings and a suitable lifting device to the water cooled exhaust manifold as shown.12. Remove eight nuts, washers and spacers (9).11. Remove right side exhaust manifold (10) and the gaskets.Install Exhaust Manifold (Water Cooled)
FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. Inspect all gaskets and O-ring seals for damage or wear. Replace with a new gasket or a new O-ring seal if necessary. Ensure all of the old gasket material is removed prior to installation of the new exhaust manifold gaskets.1. Put the new gaskets in place and install right side exhaust manifold (10).2. Put 4C-5598 Anti-Seize Compound on the studs. Install eight spacers, washers and nuts (9). 3. Tighten nuts (9) in the number sequence shown to a torque of 38 6 N m (28 4 lb ft).4. Install O-ring seal (11).5. Inspect gasket (12) for damage or wear, replace with a new gasket if necessary. 4. Apply clean engine oil to O-ring seal (10) on the right side exhaust manifold prior to installation of tube (7). Install tube (7).5. If necessary, install new gasket (12) prior to installation of the elbow and bolts (7). Install two bolts (7)6. Install bolt (6). Ensure all of the old gasket material is removed prior to installation of the new exhaust manifold gaskets.7. Put the new gaskets in place and install left side exhaust manifold (5).8. Put 4C-5598 Anti-Sieze Compound on the studs. Install eight spacers, washers and nuts (4). 9. Tighten nuts (4) in the number sequence shown to a torque of 38 6 N m (28 4 lb ft).10. Install O-ring seal (3). 11. Inspect the gasket for tube (2) for damage or wear, replace with a new gasket if necessary.12. Apply clean engine oil to O-ring (3) prior to installation of tube (2).
