13. Remove thrust spacer (21). 14. Remove coupling (22). 15. Use Tool (B) to remove lock ring (23) from coupling (22). Use Tool (C) to remove retaining ring (24) from the coupling. 16. Use a hammer and punch to unlock nut (25) at location (X). 17. Install Tooling (D) on housing (26). Use a lifting strap and hoist to position the spindle and housing on Tooling (E). The weight of the spindle and hub is 70 kg (154 lb). 18. Use a hammer and brass punch to remove nut (25). Use two persons to remove housing (26) from spindle (27). The weight of the housing is 32 kg (70 lb). 19. Remove bearing cone (28) from housing (26). 20. If necessary, remove ten studs (29), bearing cups (30) and two dowel pins (31) from housing (26). 21. Remove bearing cone (32) and Duo-Cone seals (33) and (34) from spindle (27). 22. Use two persons to remove spindle (27) from Tooling (E) and position it as shown. The weight of the spindle is 38 kg (84 lb).
There is spring force against thrust plate (35) and retaining ring (36). When thrust plate (35) and retaining ring (36) are removed, the spring force will be released. To prevent possible personal injury, use 11 screws (5 mm X 0.8 X 25mm) to compress the springs under thrust plate (35).
23. Install 11 5mm X 0.8 X 25 mm screws through thrust plate (35) into the piston. Tighten the screws until the spring pressure on retaining ring (36) is removed. Use Tool (F) to remove retaining ring (36). Slowly and evenly remove the 11 5mm X 0.8 X 25 mm screws until the spring pressure on thrust plate (35) has been released. Remove thrust plate (35) from the spindle. For assembly purposes, mark the location of nine springs (37) before removing them from piston (38).24. Remove nine springs (37), piston (38), discs (39), plates (40) and thrust spacer (41) from spindle (27). 25. Remove back-up ring (42) and O-ring seal (43) from the larger diameter groove in spindle (27). Check the back-up ring and O-ring seal for damage or wear and replace if necessary.26. Remove O-ring seal (44) and back-up ring (45) from the smaller diameter groove in spindle (27). Check the back-up ring and O-ring seal for damage or wear and replace if necessary.Assemble Torque Hub
1. Install back-up ring (42) and O-ring seal (43) in the larger diameter groove in spindle (27).2. Install O-ring seal (44) and back-up ring (45) in the smaller diameter groove in spindle (27). 3. Put clean hydraulic oil on the O-ring seals and back-up rings inside spindle (27). Install thrust plate (41), discs (39), plates (40), piston (38) and nine springs (37) in spindle (27). Make sure nine springs (37) are installed the correct locations. 4. Position thrust plate (35) on the nine springs. Install 11 5mm X 0.8 X 25 mm screws through thrust plate (35) into the piston. Tighten the screws until thrust plate (35)
