A new replacement engine arrangement is now available. The 156-8491 Primary Engine Ar is no longer in production. The 156-8491 Primary Engine Ar is being replaced by the 254-5516 Primary Engine Ar. The 254-5516 Primary Engine Ar is a direct service replacement for the 156-8491 Primary Engine Ar .Note: The 254-5516 Primary Engine Ar does not require any power setting adjustments by the dealer.The following work needs to be done in order to make the engines fully compatible with the machines that are mentioned above.
Remove the dipstick and the tube from the original engine. Fit the dipstick and the tube on the new engine.
Remove the inlet manifold from the original engine. Fit the inlet manifold to the new engine.
Remove the fan assembly from the original engine. Fit the fan assembly onto the new engine.
Remove the drain valve for the sump from the original engine. Fit the drain valve for the sump on the new engine.
Remove the starting motor from the original engine. Fit the starting motor on the new engine.
Remove the alternator from the original engine. Fit the alternator on the new engine.
Remove the water temperature switch from the original engine. Fit the water temperature switch on the new engine.Note: The top valve cover on the replacement engine is slightly different. The oil filler and the breather are in different locations. This will not cause a problem as there is good accessibility in the engine compartment of the machine.Note: Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual, SENR5027-04 for information on the rework procedure.
