Engine: G3406 (S/N: 4FD; 1RK) G3408 (S/N: 6NB) G3408B (S/N: 6RJ) G3412 (S/N: 7DB; 3NK)Introduction
There are four Engine Oil Reservoir Groups that are available for installation. Each engine oil reservoir group is used on a specific engine model. The particular engine oil reservoir group that is used depends on the engine. The engine can be turbocharged aftercooled (TA) or naturally aspirated (NA).
The G3406 Engine (TA) will use the 164-5679 Engine Oil Reservoir Group .
The G3408 Engine (NA) will use the 164-5681 Engine Oil Reservoir Group .
The G3408 Engine (TA) and the G3408B Engine (TA) will use the 164-5680 Engine Oil Reservoir Group .
The G3412 Engine (TA) will use the 164-5682 Engine Oil Reservoir Group .Refer to Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, and Table 4 in the ""Required Parts"" section for the parts that are needed for each engine.Installation of the engine oil reservoir group for these engines will increase the oil capacity. The engine oil reservoir group will also extend the engine oil's service life to a maximum of 750 hours.This Special Instruction provides the information that is needed for the installation of the engine oil reservoir group for these engines.Refer to the specific engine's Operation And Maintenance Manual for the engine oil capacity for the original engine. It will be necessary to add the additional amount of oil in order to completely fill the lubrication system that contains the new engine oil reservoir group.The entire Special Instruction should be read and understood before beginning any work on the engine.Required Parts
