Parking Brake (1) Shaft. (2) Cage. (3) Drum. (4) Shoe. (5) Brake group. (6) Yoke. (7) Lever assembly.The parking brake is located in the drive line on the forward end of the transmission. The braking force is applied with a lever and a cable assembly. The arrangement is manually actuated. This is done by pulling upward on a lever assembly that is operated by hand.As drive shaft (1) rotates, drum (3) and yoke (6) rotate. Brake group (5) and lever assembly (7) are fastened to cage (2). Cage (2) remains stationary.When the parking brake is engaged, lever assembly (7) moves, and brake group (5) is actuated. The brake group consists of three retraction springs and of two brake shoes. These components are mounted on a plate assembly.The brake group is configured to allow the plate assembly to expand whenever lever assembly (7) is actuated. The plate assembly presses shoe (4) against drum (3). This prevents shaft (1) and yoke (6) from turning.
