This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS42937" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7755" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product,parts should be removed from parts stock as soon as possible.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
Certain 10R5992 remanufactured cylinder packs were assembled with the incorrect top piston ring. Cylinder Packs with the date codes "D01M10Y08 through D31M03Y09" (01 October, 2008 through 31 March, 2009) were manufactured with the 309-4046 Top Piston Ring. The 309-4046 Top Piston Ring is the incorrect ring for G3520C Engines used in Landfill and Digester (Biogas) applications. The 2623066/">262-3066 Top Piston Ring is the correct top piston ring for the G3520C Engines used in Landfill and Digester (Biogas) applications.

Inspect the current dealer stock for the affected 10R5992 cylinder packs. Check the date code on the cylinder pack box label (Image1).
- If the date code is in the affected date code of "D01M10Y08 through D31M03Y09" (01 March, 2008 through 31 May, 2009), replace the top piston with a new 2623066/">262-3066 piston ring. Mark the package to indicate the cylinder pack has been reworked as directed by this PS4#### Program and return the cylinder pack to dealer parts stock.
- If the date code is NOT within the affected date code of "D01M10Y08 through D31M03Y09" (01 March, 2008 through 31 May, 2009), mark the package to indicate the cylinder pack has been inspected as directed by this PS4#### Program and return the cylinder pack to dealer parts stock.
