This Program must be administered assoon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI10101" as the Partnumber and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim DescriptionCode and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair isdone after failure, use "PI10101" as the Part Number, "7751" as the GroupNumber, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMSDescription Code. This program pertains to engines thatwere shipped with factory provided 2095034 Tool Kits from August 2000 toAugust 2001. This Revised Service Letter replacesthe September 24, 2001 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Title,Problem, Parts Needed, Action Required, and Owner Notification Letter.PROBLEM
The 4C5817 has been cancelled and replaced bythe 2074607 Collar-Thrd. The new collar allows increased engagement withthe threads of the 1W0121 Stud that fastens the main bearing cap to thecylinder block. Inadequate thread engagement can cause the collar to becomea flying projectile when the threads strip. The improved stud includesan external hex drive for installing and/or removing the stud. Formerlythe stud had an internal square drive for installing and/or removing thestud. The new 2074607 Collar-Thrd is part of the 2095034 Stud TensionerTool Group.AFFECTED PRODUCT
