Information:
Raise the screed and allow the tow arms to rest on screed service locks (1). Note: Refer to the tractor Operation and Maintenance manual for these procedures.Test Procedure
Note: Each section of the main screed and each extender is equipped with a temperature sensor. The following procedure can be used to test an individual sensor or multiple sensors.
Allow the screed plates to cool to ambient temperature. Use Tool (C) to record the temperature of each screed plate that has a sensor that is to be tested. Note: The temperature at the center of the screed plate is typically higher than the temperature on the trailing edge of the screed plate. Monitor temperature on the screed plate as close as possible to the location of the temperature sensor being tested.

Install the red spoon from Tool (B) in contact "1" of connector (3). Install black spoon from Tool (B) in contact "2" of the connector.
Connect Tool (B) to Tool (A). Set Tool (A) to read resistance.
Use Tool (A) to measure the resistance between contact "1" and contact "2" of connector "2" (4). Record this resistance for future analysis. The resistance should match the value given in the following table for the temperature recorded in Step 1.

Press screed heat menu button (4) in order to access the screed heat menu.
Illustration 8 g03784000
Press screed heat power button (5) in order to turn on the system.
Press heat zone (6) to be tested.
Use Tool (C) to monitor the temperature of the screed plates. Depress screed heat power button (5) to turn the heating system off when the temperature of each screed plate reaches approximately 60° C (140 ° F).
Stop the engine. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual of the tractor for these procedures.
Use Tool (C) to record the temperatures of the screed plate that has a sensor that is to be tested.
Use Tool (A) to measure the resistance between contact "1" and contact "2" of connector (3). Record this resistance for future analysis. The resistance should match the value given in the above table for the temperature recorded in Step 5.
Reconnect connector (3). Note: Repeat Step 13 through Step 15 for each sensor that is to be tested.
If either resistance value for a temperature sensor was outside the specified range, replace the sensor.
