Engine Cooling Fan Calibrations
Illustration 1 g02159118
Calibration screen - Engine cooling fanPerform the following in order to setup calibration conditions for engine cooling fan:
Set the parking brake.
Set the engine speed to high idle.
Ensure that there are no active diagnostics.
Warm hydraulic oil temperature in the range between 40 degree Celsius and 60 degree Celsius. Refer to the "Hydraulic Oil Temperature Test" of this section, for the procedure to measure the temperature of the hydraulic oil.
Use the increment and decrement buttons to adjust the current until the fan speed is 1200 RPM.
When the measured fan speed is within 50 RPM of 1200 RPM, click the "NEXT" button to continue.
Click the "CANCEL" button to abort the calibration. Note: Increasing the solenoid current will decrease the fan speed. Decreasing the solenoid current will increase the fan speed.Hydraulic Oil Temperature Test

Desired location for 164-3310 Infrared Thermometer testing on the oil filterUse the 164-3310 Infrared Thermometer or the equivalent to measure this temperature at the canister for the hydraulic filter. When using the 164-3310 Infrared Thermometer, ensure that the thermometer is at the top edge of the oil filter to get the most accurate temperature. Refer to Illustration 2.Accessing Calibrations
Connect the ET to the machine. After communication has been established, the ET will list the electronic control modules that are on the machine. Choose the menu item "Machine ECM". Select the drop-down menu that is called "Service". Then, select the "Calibration" function. The list of calibrations will appear.

Typical example of the calibration screenOnce the specific calibration is selected, the Cat ET display will guide you through the calibration procedure. The Cat ET display will list initial machine conditions that must be satisfied before the ECM will allow the calibration procedure to continue. Follow the specific instructions on the display in order to complete the calibration procedure successfully.
