1 6 235-1088 Nut Use the following procedure to tighten the locknuts:
1. Set the lash for the CAT compression brake to 0.686 0.050 mm (0.0270 0.0020 inch).
2. Tighten the locknut on the adjustment screw to 15 3 N m (133 27 lb in).
2 9 304-9553 Stud Use the following procedure to tighten the studs:
1. Tighten the studs in a numerical sequence as shown in Illustration 2 to 50 5 N m (37 4 lb ft).
2. Turn the studs to an additional 45 5 degrees.
3 3 8T-7062 Taperlock Stud Torque to 65 10 N m (48 7 lb ft).
Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "CAT Compression Brake Lash - Adjust" in order to obtain the correct procedure for setting the lash on the compression brake.

Use the following steps in order to install the housing for the CAT compression brake on the cylinder head:
1. Place the housing over the mounting studs. Finger tighten the mounting stud nuts and the mounting bolt.
2. Tighten the CAT compression brake to the cylinder head by using the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 3.
3. Again tighten the CAT compression brake by using the same numerical sequence.
