Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Make sure that the filters and the screens are clean before you test any pressures. The transmission oil must be cold when you perform this test.Procedure
Note: This procedure will also alter the setting of the modulation relief valve.

Park the machine on a hard level surface. Stop the engine, engage the parking brake and block the wheels.

Remove cover (1) .

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.Spring force will be released when covers are removed.Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
Note: Care must be taken when removing cover (4). Be prepared to hold the spring loaded cover as bolts are loosened.
Remove cover (4) and load piston (3) .Note: Before an adjustment is preformed, be certain that the valve springs are not weak or broken.
To increase the pressure add to spacers (2). Refer to Table 1.
To decrease the pressure subtract from spacers (2). Refer to Table 1.
Install load piston (3) and cover (4) .
Install cover (1) .
