Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate speed dial (4) to the MINIMUM position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Move propel mode switch (3) to the PAVE position.Note: The machine must be in PAVE mode in order to operate the screed lift system.

Move screed lift switch (5) to the FLOAT position. Allow the screed to lower to the ground.Note: The screed lift switch on both instrument panels must be in the FLOAT position in order for the screed to lower.
After the screed rests on the ground, move screed lift switch (5) to the HOLD position.

Move throttle control switch (6) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.

Remove seven torx screws (8) from the instrument panel. Lift the instrument panel in order to access the wiring and components of the instrument panel.

Disconnect signal cable (10) from speed potentiometer connector (9) .
Insert red spoon from Tool (B) into contact "C" (K708-BU) of speed potentiometer connector (9). Connect red spoon to Tool (A) .
Insert black spoon from Tool (B) into contact "B" (N703-BR) of speed potentiometer connector (9). Connect black spoon to Tool (A) .
Set Tool (A) to read "Ohms".
Value on Tool (A) should be 0 to 1 ohms.
Slowly, steadily rotate speed dial (4) to the MAXIMUM position. Observe reading on Tool (A). The value should steadily increase as the dial is moved to the maximum range. The value should not stop increasing until the dial reaches the maximum stop. When the dial is against the maximum stop, value on Tool (A) should be 975 50 ohms.
Move speed dial (4) to the MINIMUM position.
