Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the flywheel and ring gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flywheel and Ring Gear - Remove and Install".

Note: Identify the orientation of the ring gear on the flywheel for the correct positioning when the new ring gear is installed.
Remove ring gear (1) from flywheel (2) .Installation Procedure
Check the ring gear for cracks, missing gear teeth, wear, or damage. Use a new part for replacement.

Raise the temperature of ring gear (2) to 100°C (212°F).
Position ring gear (2) on flywheel (1) .End By: Install the flywheel and ring gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flywheel and Ring Gear - Remove and Install".
