SPIDER & BEARING AS 2T0095 - Caterpillar

1. Remove the cotter pin and pin (1) from the slack adjuster.2. Remove ring (2) and washer (3) that hold the slack adjuster on the brake camshaft. 3. Remove brake shield (4). Put blocks between the brake shoes and the axle housing to get clearance for the removal of the brake camshaft.4. Slide the ring and washer (5) toward the differential, and pull brake camshaft (6) out of the axle housing. Remove the slack adjuster, the ring and washer (5) from the brake camshaft. Remove brake camshaft (6). 5. Remove two seals (8) and bearing (10) from the front of the axle housing.6. Remove seal (7) and bearing (9) from the rear of the axle housing. The following steps are for the installation of the brake camshafts and slack adjusters. 7. Use Tooling (A) to install the seals and the bearings in the axle housing.8. Install bearing (9) in the axle housing until it is .28 in (7.1 mm) below the outside surface of the bearing bore.9. Install the inside lip seal (7), with the lip out. Install the lip seal until it is 2.03 mm (.08 in) below the outside surface of the axle housing and with the lip of the seal toward the bowl assembly.10. Install bearing (10) in the axle housing until it is .28 in (7.1 mm) below the outside surface of the bearing bore.11. Install the outside lip seal (8) in the axle housing with Tooling (A). Install the lip seal until it is 2.03 mm (.08 in) below the outside surface of the axle housing and with the lip of the seal toward the bowl assembly.12. Install the inside lip seal (8) in the axle housing with Tooling (A). Install the lip seal until it makes contact with the bearing in the axle housing and with the lip of the seal toward the bowl assembly. 13. Be sure washer (11) is in place on brake camshaft (6).14. Slide brake camshaft (6) through the bracket on the axle housing. Install the washer and the ring, not shown, on the brake camshaft. Slide the camshaft through the hole in the axle housing. Install the slack adjuster on the camshaft. Slide the washer and the ring toward the cam until the ring is in the groove.15. Remove the wood blocks. 16. Install washer (2) and ring (3) on the camshaft.17. Install pin (1) and the cotter pin.18. Make an adjustment to brakes after installation of the wheels.
