Remove the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install" for the specified engine.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Use Tooling (A) in order to rotate the flywheel. Remove bolts (1) .

Attach Tooling (B), Tooling (C), and a suitable lifting device onto the torque converter and transmission (2). The weight of the torque converter and transmission (2) is approximately 603 kg (1330 lb). Refer to Special Instructions, REHS3513, "Lifting" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8427, "Lifting and Tying Down the Transmission".
Remove bolts (3) .
Remove the torque converter and transmission (2) .

Install Tooling (D) .

Install the transmission and the torque converter (2) onto Tooling (E) .Note: Three 1/2-20 bolts and one 3/8-24 bolt are used to mount the transmission to Tooling (E) .
