The length of the keyway may be longer than 16 mm (.62 inch) (A) on some of the pump shafts. If the keyway is 16 mm (.62 inch), there is no problem and no further action is required. Longer keyway (1) may extend beyond the wear surface of the drive gear. The extra length of the keyway may allow oil to leak past the 3E-6768 Lip Type Seal . The oil will then leak out of the weep hole on the 7E-8947 Pump Adapter . There is also a potential leak path between the outer diameter of 3E-6768 Lip Type Seal and the mating surface of 7E-8947 Pump Adapter .Solution
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Confirm that the leakage of oil is pooling and dripping from weep hole (3) on 7E-8947 Pump Adapter (2) .

Remove nut (4) and flat washer (5) from gear (6) .

Fill the keyway with 141-5831 Silicone Sealant .Note: Do not overfill the keyway. Silicone sealant should not exit the bottom of the keyway.

The silicone sealant should fill to the top of the keyway. Refer to Illustration 5.

Install nut (4) and flat washer (5) on gear (6) .
