Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Install plunger (1) and spring (2) in engine oil filter base (3).

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.Spring force will be released when covers are removed.Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
Install the gasket and cover (4) on the oil cooler bypass valve.

Use two bolts (5) and the washers in order to fasten cover (4) to engine oil filter base (3).
Perform Steps 1 through 3 for the oil filter bypass valve.

Apply Tooling (A) on the threads of five plugs (6) and install plugs (6) in engine oil filter base (3).

Place O-ring seals (7) in position on engine oil filter base (3). End By:
Install the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Base - Install" for the engine that is being serviced.
