Information:

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil to contact skin.
Typical Example1. Remove eight bolts (3) and covers (1) and (2) from the track roller frame.
Typical Example2. Disconnect hydraulic hoses (4) and (6) from the travel brake valve. Put plugs in the end of the hoses to keep dirt and debris out of the hydraulic system. Remove six socket head bolts (7) that hold travel brake valve (5) to the travel motor. Remove the valve. Remove the three o-ring seals from the travel motor. The following steps are for installation of the travel brake valve.3. Thoroughly clean the travel brake valve and the mating surface on the travel motor.4. Check the condition of the three o-ring seals used between the travel brake valve and the travel motor. If the seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Install the three o-ring seals in the travel motor. Put clean hydraulic oil on the seals.5. Install travel brake valve (5) and the six socket head bolts (7) that hold it. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 78 8 N m (60 6 lb ft).6. Check the condition of the o-ring seals in hydraulic hoses (4) and (6). If the seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Install the o-ring seals in the hoses. Connect the hoses to the travel brake valve.7. Start the machine, and check for leaks. Reinstall covers (1) and (2).8. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.Disassemble And Assemble Travel Brake Valves
Start By:a. remove travel brake valves1. Thoroughly clean the outside of the travel brake valve prior to disassembly.
During disassembly of the travel brake valve, mark all components as to their location in the valve assembly. Do not mix the parts.
There is spring pressure behind covers (2) which may cause the assembly to fly apart when cover mounting bolts (1) are removed. To prevent possible personal injury, remove only two cover mounting bolts (1) that are diagonal to each other. Then, alternating between the two remaining cover mounting bolts, slowly loosen them a small amount at a time, until the spring pressure is completely released.
2. Remove two cover mounting bolts (1) that are diagonal to each other. Then, alternating between the two remaining cover mounting bolts, slowly loosen them a small amount at a time, until the spring pressure is released.3. Remove the other cover (2) as in Step 2.
Typical Example Counterbalance Spool Assembly (9) should not be disassembled. The component is serviced as an assembly. Also, the travel brake valves used in E120B Excavators are not equipped with plunger assemblies (3) as shown in Photo C28604P1.4. Remove springs (4) and washers (5) from the valve body. Remove counterbalance spool assembly (9) from the valve body.5. Remove o-ring seals (6) from the valve body and o-ring seals (7) from the connectors on the valve body.6. Remove relief valve assemblies
