(1) For use when the rear gear group is installed.Note: Certain configurations may not require a crankshaft rear seal.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: The crankshaft rear seal and the wear sleeve must be replaced at the same time. Once the crankshaft rear seal and the wear sleeve are separated, these components cannot be used again.
Illustration 1 g01115766Note: Do not use any type of lubricant during the installation of the crankshaft seal and wear sleeve.
Clean the outside diameter of the crankshaft.Note: Install the crankshaft rear seal with the arrow that shows the direction of crankshaft rotation toward the rear of the engine.
Use Tooling (B) to install wear sleeve (2) and crankshaft rear seal (1).Note: Use Tooling (C) when the rear gear group is installed.End By:
Install the flywheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flywheel - Install".
