If the low pressure fuel systems of the engines that are listed above experience high fuel pressure event codes, refer to the list below. Then perform the following repairs:
Two check valves in the system. If a check valve is installed in the 314-3173 Manifold and in the secondary fuel filter base, the check valve in the secondary filter base should be removed and replaced with a 9S-4190 O-Ring Plug and a 6V-4589 O-Ring Seal .
If the 314-3173 Manifold is faulty, order a new 314-3173 Manifold. The Morton parts system has removed all faulty change levels for this part. All manifolds that are supplied after November 2008 are correct.
Fuel system restrictions can be caused by modifications to the low pressure fuel system. The combination of small sizes of the lines, casting port sizes and the customer's installations can cause the system to trip the high system pressure warning. Although this warning is only precautionary, a service call and concerns are warranted. Engines that are experiencing undesirable fuel pressure warnings could implement the following suggestions in order to improve the system.
Remove the existing return-to-tank fuel line.
Remove existing elbow fitting in the block on top of the vee of the engine and the outlet hose.
Remove the customer connection fuel hose.
Install a new 4K-6297 Elbow in the block on top of the vee of the engine. Replace the outlet hose with an outlet hose of a larger diameter.
Install a new customer connection fuel hose. It is recommended to use 9X-2374 Hose with 068-0556 Swivel Fitting and 001-6287 Coupling .The supply and return hoses to the cylinder head cannot be rebuilt. The routing and the clipping of the hoses must exactly match the factory installation. No modifications to the routing and to the clipping of the hoses will be allowed.
