After the ladder has been assembled and attached to the machine, fold the ladder up. Folding the ladder will be a check to determine if the latch brackets are correctly oriented. If the brackets are correctly aligned such that the ladder is both capable of being stored as well as being secure, then continue on to the next step where the brackets are fully welded on. If the brackets are not correctly aligned (the latch cannot be used), then remove the tack welds from the corners. Realign the bracket such that the latch can be operated, and tack weld the corners again as seen in a prior step. The brackets holding the bumpers to the ladder can also be slightly adjusted up and down. If the brackets are adjusted, ensure to torque the 8T-4195 Bolt to 55 10 N m (40.56 7.37 lb ft).

After the bracket alignment has been confirmed, fold the ladder down. Remove the latches and their hardware, safely setting them aside, they will be re-attached once the welds are complete. Place a 3 mm (0.118 inch) Fillet Weld along the top of the brackets. The weld will be as long as the entire arc between the bracket and handrail.
