This diagnostic code is associated with the Battery Cable Shield Monitor Circuit of the Machine ECM. Note: The circuit for the Battery Cable Shield Monitor is designed to indicate to the machine operator that the shield of the cable has been damaged. The damage could be the result of chaffing over a long period. The damage could also be the result of a nick in the shielding of the harness due to an impact. Note: Each resistor is 1500 ohms. The 3035-4 diagnostic code is activated when the ECM detects the voltage of the Battery Cable Shield Monitor Circuit is below normal. The following conditions could cause this diagnostic code:
A short circuit between the shield and frame ground.
The ECM has failed. (ECM failure is unlikely.)Note: Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Note: The following test procedure may cause other diagnostic codes to be activated. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the problem has been corrected.

(1) Five (drain) resistors are standard on 980K models.
On 966K and 972K models, four resistors are standard and a fifth resistor is available when secondary steering is equipped.Test Step 1. CHECK FOR A SHORT TO FRAME GROUND
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
For each resistor leg, check resistance between the shield wire and frame ground. Expected Result:The resistance is greater than 5 K ohms. Results:
OK - - The resistance is greater than 5 K ohms. Proceed to Test Step 2
NOT OK - - Repair or replace the cable with the low resistanceSTOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE VOLTAGE BETWEEN THE ECM CIRCUIT AND FRAME GROUND
At the ECM connector J1-30, remove the circuit wire from the harness connector.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Contact the multimeter probe to the ECM pin. Measure the voltage between the contact J1-30 and a clean ground connection on the machine chassis. Expected Result:The voltage is approximately 5 VDC.Results:
OK - - The voltage is approximately 5 VDC. Check if the diagnostic code is no longer active. If still active, contact the Technical Communicator (TC) at your dealership. Indicate the
