(10) Travel motor output shaft
(11) Motor housing The final drive reduces the rotational speed of travel motor (3). Travel motor output shaft (10) is splined to first stage sun gear (4) of the final drive. The final drive consists of two groups. The first group is made up of the two stages of the planetary gears. The second group is the output group. The two stages of the planetary gears contain the following components:
The components of the first stage reduction are planetary carrier (5), gear housing (1), planetary gears (7), and sun gear (4).
The components of the second stage reduction are sun gear (8), the planetary carrier, planetary gears (9), and gear housing (1).The output group has the following structure: Gear housing (1) has a ring gear on the inner circumference. Planetary gears (7) and planetary gears (9) engage the ring gear. Gear housing (1) and the cover are held together with bolts. Gear housing (1) and the cover are held in position by bearings (2). The rotation of gear housing (1) develops output torque that is used to drive the track. The planetary gears reduce the travel speed. The travel speed is reduced by the ratio of teeth of the sun gear and the ring gear. The compact travel drive offers a greater reduction ratio when the sun gear is incorporated in the ring gear.Planetary Gear Operation
Sun gear (4) is splined to output shaft (10). The rotation of travel motor output shaft (10) is transferred to sun gear (4). Sun gear (4) rotates clockwise. The travel drive assembly operates in the following manner.

(13) Direction of motion Sun gear (4) engages with planetary gears (7) in the first stage reduction group. Planetary gears (7) rotate counterclockwise as sun gear (4) rotates clockwise. Planetary gears (7) also engage with ring gear of gear housing (1). Planetary gears (7) advance clockwise around the teeth of the ring gear. Planetary gears (7) are mounted to planetary carrier (5) by planetary shafts and roller bearings (6). The assembly of planetary carrier (5), planetary gears (7), planetary shafts, and roller bearings (6) rotates clockwise.

(14) Splines in engagement The rotation of planetary carrier (5) is transferred to sun gear (8) of the second stage. The splines of planetary carrier (5) mesh with the teeth of sun gear (8). Sun gear (8) rotates clockwise. In the second stage reduction group, second stage planetary gears (9) are held in place by motor housing (11) through bolts. Motor housing (11) is bolted to the track frame. The second stage planetary gears do not turn around the sun gear. Instead, the second stage planetary gears cause gear housing (1) to rotate counterclockwise. The sprocket wheel is bolted to gear
