(14) Sun gear The final drive is a planetary gear system that increases torque to the wheels. The final drive also transfers torque to the wheels. Each wheel is driven by chain (8) that connects drive sprockets (6) on each wheel to driven sprockets (12). The final drive also provides the pivot point for each tandem wheel.The differential drives sun gear (14) and shaft (1). Planetary gear (13) is driven by sun gear (14). Planetary gear (13) rotates on the inside of ring gear (3). Planetary gear (13) drives carrier (4). Carrier (4) is splined to output shaft (9).Two sprockets (6) are splined onto each output shaft (9) of the final drive. These sprockets (6) are in the center of the tandem drive between the wheels. Chain (8) that is between the center and wheel sprockets (12) drives each wheel on the tandem drive. Wheel spindle (11) is splined to wheel sprocket (12). Wheel sprocket (12) turns wheel spindle (11).The tandem housing (10) is connected with bolts to pivot housing (5). Housing (5) allows the wheels to oscillate housing (10).
