Gear pump (transmission charging and scavenge)
(1) Transmission scavenge section
(2) Transmission charging section The pump (transmission charging and scavenge) is a positive displacement type pump. The two-section gear pump is bolted to the transmission cover and driven by the transmission. Transmission scavenge section (1) draws hydraulic oil from the transmission sump in order to supply hydraulic oil to the differential for lubrication. Transmission charging section (2) draws hydraulic oil from the differential case. The transmission charging section is composed of two pump gears that are out-of-phase. The pump gears are aligned so that the tooth of one gear is aligned with the root of the other gear. The phasing of the gears allows the smoothing of the pressure pulse that is created by the transmission charging section. Transmission charging section (2) supplies pressure oil for the following:
