Remove the gear pump (power train). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Power Train) - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Loosen locknut (1) from the oil pump gear assembly.
Position Tooling (A) to oil pump drive gear (3), as shown. Use Tool (A) to pull oil pump drive gear (3) until oil pump drive gear (3) and the woodruff key are off of the oil pump gear assembly.
Remove locknut (1), hard washer (2), and oil pump drive gear (3) from the oil pump gear assembly.

Put identification on bolts (14) for assembly purposes. Remove six bolts (14) and the washers that secure cover assembly (12) to oil pump body assembly (10).
Remove cover assembly (12) and O-ring seal (13) from oil pump body assembly (10).
Remove gear (18) from oil pump body assembly (10).
Remove pump manifold assembly (4) and O-ring seal (5) from oil pump body assembly (16).
Remove two oil pump gears (7) from oil pump body assembly (6). Remove woodruff key (8) from oil pump gear assembly (11).
Remove oil pump body assembly (6) and O-ring seal (9) from oil pump body assembly (10).
If necessary, remove the four dowels from oil pump body assembly (6).
Remove bearing (16), bearing (17), and bearing (15).
Remove oil pump gear assembly (11) from oil pump body assembly (10).
If necessary, remove the two dowels from oil pump body assembly (10).
