Information:
start by: a) remove circle drive 1. Put the circle drive in position on blocks as shown. Remove bolts (1) and the washers that hold cover (2) to the housing. Remove the cover. Remove the O-ring seal from the cover. Remove the bearing from the cover. 2. Remove washer (4) and carrier assembly (3) from the housing. 3. Remove shaft (7) from the carrier. Remove gear (5) from the carrier. Remove bearing (6) and the washers (8) from the gear.4. Repeat Step 3 for the other gears in the carrier assembly. 5. Remove gear (10) and shaft (9) as a unit. Remove bolts (12) that hold the gear to the shaft. Remove the gear from the shaft.6. Remove the nuts that hold carrier housing (14) to the circle drive housing. Remove housing (14). Remove the O-ring seal (13) from the housing. Remove shims (11).7. Remove worm (15) and the bearings from the housing. 8. Remove thrust washer (16) from the housing. Remove bearing (17) from the housing. 9. Remove the bearing cup from housing (18) with tooling (A). Remove the bearing cup from the carrier housing. 10. Remove bearings (19) and (20) from worm (15) with tooling (B).Assemble Circle Drive (Earlier)
1. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (2) and the bearing cup for the carrier housing. Install the cups in the housings.2. Install the bearing in housing (1) with tooling (A) to a depth of 0.80 in. (20.3 mm) below the surface for the thrust washer. Install the bearing in the cover for the circle drive housing with tooling (A). 3. Put gear (3) in position on shaft (4). Install the gear with the deeper side toward the flange on the shaft.4. Install the nuts, washers and bolts (5) that hold gear (3) to shaft (4). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 180 15 lb.ft. (247 20 N m). 5. Put thrust washer (6) in position in the housing.6. Put the shaft and the gear in position in the housing.7. Heat bearings (7) and (9) to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). 8. Install bearings (7) and (9) on worm (8).9. Put worm (8) and the bearings in position in the circle drive housing. Make sure bearing (9) is in contact with the bearing cup in the circle drive housing. 10. Put carrier housing (11) in position on the circle drive housing. Do not install the O-ring seal or the shims. Install the nuts that hold the carrier housing to the circle drive housing.11. Install tooling (B) on the carrier housing and against worm (8). Tighten nuts (12) evenly while moving worm (8). Tighten nuts (12) until the shaft end play is zero. Measure the distance between carrier housing (11) and the circle drive housing with feeler gauge (10). Remove carrier housing (11) and tooling (B).12. Install shims on the carrier housing equal to the distance measured between the two housings minus .002 in. (0.05 mm). Install a new O-ring seal on the carrier housing.
