Remove Fuel Transfer Pump
preparatory step: a) remove fuel priming pump 1. Disconnect fuel return-to-tank line (1) from fuel filter housing.2. Remove fuel inlet line (2).3. Remove fuel priming pump fuel outlet line (3).4. Remove drain line (4).5. Disconnect bleed line (5) from fuel transfer pump and from fuel filter housing. Remove the bleed line clamp mounting bolt.6. Disconnect fuel transfer pump fuel outlet line (6) from pump.7. Remove the two transfer pump mounting bolts (7).8. Remove the fuel transfer pump.Install Fuel Transfer Pump
1. Position the fuel transfer pump on engine, and install mounting bolts.2. Connect the fuel outlet line to pump.3. Connect bleed line to transfer pump and to fuel filter housing. Install bleed line clamp mounting bolt.4. Install the fuel drain line.5. Install fuel priming pump fuel outlet line.6. Install fuel inlet line.7. Connect the fuel return-to-tank line to fuel filter housing.concluding step: a) install fuel priming pumpDisassemble Fuel Transfer Pump
preparatory step: a) remove fuel transfer pump1. Remove the fuel transfer pump cover assembly mounting bolts. 2. Remove the cover assembly (1).
Be careful not to damage mating surfaces of cover assembly and pump body.
3. Remove the plug (4). Remove the bypass valve plunger (2) and spring (3) from cover (1). 4. Remove the retaining pin from shaft assembly (6).5. Remove the gear and shaft assembly (6), and gear (5) from the body assembly.6. Remove the cage assembly (7) from body assembly.7. Remove the carbon seal and washer from the cage assembly. 8. Using driver (A), remove the bearing, lip-type seal and retainer from cage.9. Remove the O-ring seals from cage and retainer.10. Remove the bearing from the body assembly.Assemble Fuel Transfer Pump
1. Clean all parts thoroughly before assembling pump. 2. Using driver (A), install bearing (1) in cage (5). 3. Using tool setup (B), install lip-type seal (2) in cage with lip of seal toward pump end of cage.4. Lubricate and install O-ring seal (4) on retainer (3).5. Install the retainer (3) in cage assembly.6. Lubricate and install the O-ring seals on the cage assembly (5). 7. Using driver (A), install the bearing in body assembly (6).8. Install the washer in body assembly.9. Apply a thin film of clean oil to the inside diameter of inner rubber ring of the carbon seal.10. Apply a thin film of clean oil to the wear face of the carbon seal.11. Position the carbon seal on body assembly, and install the cage assembly (5).12. Install the gear and shaft assembly, and gear in the body assembly. Install retaining pin.13. Apply a thin film of 8S6747 Liquid Gasket to face of body assembly.
Do not allow liquid gasket material to enter pump.
14. Install the cover assembly and mounting bolts. After tightening cover assembly mounting bolts, the shaft assembly must rotate freely.15. Install the bypass valve plunger, spring, and plug.concluding step: a) install fuel transfer pump
