Information:
NITROGEN CARTRIDGE (IN CAB)
17. Nitrogen cartridge. 26. Pin (remove). 27. Lever (pull down).
NITROGEN CARTRIDGE (UNDER AGENT CYLINDERS)
18. Nitrogen cartridge. 26. Pin (remove). 27. Lever (pull down).Fire Suppression (Agent Cylinders)
The second way to activate the system is from the Agent cylinders located on the front right corner of the machine. Each of the cylinders has a pin (28) that must be removed and a lever (29) that must be pulled up.The fire suppressant agent is kept in two cylinders which are precharged with nitrogen. The nitrogen precharge is to aid in discharging the Agent out of the Agent cylinders. Do not confuse the precharge nitrogen with the nitrogen in the nitrogen cartridges which is used to activate the Agent cylinder valve assemblies. The gauges on the Agent cylinders are replaceable type gauges. There is a shutoff valve on the cylinder valve assembly to aid in the replacement of these gauges. The valve must be closed before removing the gauge. After installing a replacement gauge, open the valve. These gauges read pressure. The indicator arrow on this gauge should be in the green area on the gauge for operation. If the indicator arrow is not in this green area, the cylinders should be replaced or recharged.
LOCATION OF AGENT CYLINDERS
19. Agent cylinders. The suppression Agent melts at 150°C (300°F) and sticks to any heated surfaces. This decreases the possibility of fire re-ignition (starting again). The agent is corrosive to copper, therefore all electrical components, especially the alternator; should be cleaned thoroughly after the suppression system has been used. Clean by washing or air blasting.
ACTIVATION PINS AND LEVERS
28. Pins (remove). 29. Levers (pull up).Shutdown Control Assembly
The fire suppression system automatically stops the engine when the system is activated. There is a 9G8010 Pressure Switch in the Agent line that closes when the system is activated and there is pressure in the line. When the switch is closed, it sends +24V to the shutdown control assembly. The +24V activates the solid state assembly and the assembly supplies +24V for the engine stop solenoid. The engine stop solenoid keeps activated for 70 seconds or until the disconnect switch is turned off, or until the start switch is activated, whichever occurs first.
ENGINE SHUTDOWN CONTROL ASSEMBLY
20. Engine shutdown control assembly.
PRESSURE SWITCH
21. Pressure switch (engine shutdown). The shutdown control assembly can be tested by pushing the test switch (22). Pushing the test switch will activate the engine shutdown assembly (for 70 seconds or until the service disconnect switch is turned off) without activating the Agent cylinders or nitrogen cartridges. The engine can also be immediately started by turning the starter switch to the "START" position.
SHUTDOWN CONTROL TEST SWITCH
22. Test switch. 23. Circuit breaker. For the shutdown control to work normally, +24V (Ref. Connector C) must be supplied to Socket #1 at all times. Pin #2 is the ground connection for the shutdown control assembly. When +24V is supplied to Socket #7 through either the test switch or the Agent pressure switch, the shutdown control assembly is activated. The shutdown control assembly
