Schematic of the Right Drive (Forward) Pump Solenoid CircuitThis diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM reads the current of the solenoid as being above normal. The possible causes are listed:
The energize circuit of the solenoid is shorted to ground.
The solenoid has failed.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the problem has been corrected.System Response:The diagnostic will generate a cid 1705 fmi 06 level 2 warning. If the machine is traveling in reverse, the machine will be brought to a stop. If the machine is moving forward, the machine travel will be limited to half speed. A level 3 warning will be active E696 Opposite Machine Movement Commands Disabled.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SOLENOID.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position. DO NOT start the engine.
Disconnect the machine harness from the solenoid.
Observe the status of the diagnostic code.Expected Result:The diagnostic code changes from FMI 06 to FMI 05 when the solenoid is disconnected. Results:
YES - FMI 06 changes to FMI 05 when the solenoid is disconnected. The circuit is correct. Repair: Reconnect the negative battery cable and turn the key start switch to the ON position. Inspect the harness to the solenoid for any failures. Disconnecting the solenoid could temporarily cause the short to be removed from the harness. Reconnect the solenoid in order to verify that the diagnostic code has become active again. Repeat the step in order to verify that the solenoid has failed. Replace the solenoid.STOP
NO - FMI 06 remains active. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE SOLENOID CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND.
The machine harness remains disconnected from the solenoid.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the J1 and J2 machine harness connector from the ECM.
At the J1 machine harness connector, measure the resistance from the solenoid contact J1-51 (wire K947-YL) to all contacts that are used in the machine harness connectors for the ECM.Expected Result:Each resistance measurement should be greater than 5000 ohms. Results:
YES - Each resistance measurement should be greater than 5000 ohms. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to test step 3.
NO - There is an short in the machine harness.Repair: The short is between the wire for the solenoid signal and the circuit with the low resistance measurement. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS.
Inspect the contacts and clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Reconnect the negative battery cable and turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Clear all inactive diagnostic codes.
Operate the machine.
Stop the machine and place the parking brake switch in the ON position.
Check if the diagnostic code for the solenoid is active.Expected Result:The diagnostic code is NO longer active. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code is NO longer active. The diagnostic code does not exist at this time. Repair: The initial diagnostic code was
