Ensure that gear surfaces align. Never force parts during assembly.

Position the torque converter updrive gears on wood blocks. The weight of torque converter updrive gears is approximately 670 kg (1477 lb).
Remove yoke (3) from gear (10).
Remove eight bolts (2) from bearing cage (4).
Use two bolts (2) as forcing screws to separate bearing cage (4) from housing assembly (1).
Remove bearing cage (4) and upper shim set (5).
Remove two O-ring seals (6), lip type seal (7) and bearing cup (8) from bearing cage (4).
Remove gear (10).
Remove bearing cones (9) and (11) from gear (10).
Remove bearing cup (12) from housing assembly (1).

Remove four bolts (16) and cover (17).
Remove O-ring seal (15) from cover (17).
Remove four bolts (14) from bearing cage (22).
Use two bolts (14) as forcing screws to separate bearing cage (22) from housing assembly (1).
Remove bearing cage (22) and center shim set (13).
Remove two O-ring seals (19) and bearing cup (18) from bearing cage (22).
Remove gear (21).
Remove bearing cones (20) and (24) from gear (21).
Remove bearing cup (23) from housing assembly (1).

Remove six bolts (27) and cover (31).
Remove O-ring seal (30) from cover (31).
Remove 10 bolts (25) from bearing cage (26).
Use two bolts (25) as forcing screws to separate bearing cage (26) from housing assembly (1).
Remove bearing cage (26) and lower shim set (32).
Remove two O-ring seals (33) and bearing cup (34) from bearing cage (26).
Remove bolt (29), and retainer (28) from torque converter output shaft (38).
Remove gear (36) from torque converter output shaft (38).
Remove bearing cones (35) and (37) from gear (36).

Move the wood blocks to the position shown.
Remove 10 bolts (41) from bearing cage (40).
Use two bolts (41) as forcing screws to separate bearing cage (40) from housing assembly (1).
Remove bearing cage (40).
Remove bearing cup (43) from bearing cage (40).
Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to housing assembly (1). The weight of housing assembly (1) is approximately 290 kg (640 lb).
Remove thirteen bolts (42).
Remove housing assembly (1) from torque converter assembly (39).
Remove two O-ring seals (44) from torque converter assembly (39).

Remove plugs (45), (47) and (48).
Remove orifice plugs (46), (49) and (50).
Ensure orifice plugs (46), (49) and (50), and internal oil galleries are clean and free of foreign material.
Install orifice plugs (46), (49) and (50).
Install plugs (45), (47) and (48).

Remove plugs (51) from bearing cage (4).
Remove orifice plug (53).
Ensure internal oil gallery (52) is clean and free of foreign material.
Install plugs (51).
Install orifice plug (53).

Remove orifice plug (54).
Ensure internal oil gallery (55) in bearing cage (22) is clean and free of foreign material.
Install orifice plug (54).

Remove orifice plug (57).
Ensure internal oil gallery (56) in bearing cage (26) is clean and free of foreign material.
Install orifice plug (57).
