Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.Spring force will be released when covers are removed.Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
Remove bolts (2).
Remove bolts (3). Remove fuel priming pump (1) and the gasket from the fuel filter housing.
Remove plug (6). Remove the O-ring seal from the plug.
Remove spring (5) and ball (4) from the fuel filter housing. Installation Procedure

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Position a new gasket and fuel priming pump (1).
Install bolts (3) and tighten to a torque of 15 3 N m (11 2 lb ft).
Install bolts (2).
Install ball (4) and spring (5) in the fuel filter housing.
Install a new O-ring seal on plug (6). Install the plug in the fuel filter housing.
Turn the fuel supply to the ON position.
